The KN95 mask is a standard respirator in China. It is a type of respirator with particulate filtering efficiency in China because the Novel Coronavirus transmission is mainly through droplets. The KN95 mask means that it can filter 95% of the particulate matter in the air.
The filtering ability of KN95 mask is superior to that of ordinary mask and medical mask. If ranked according to the priority of the wearer's own protection function, KN95 mask has the highest protection ability.
Medical masks and protective masks are non-woven materials, which is made of directional or random fibers. It is usually multilayered and consisting mainly of three layers, which is often referred to as SMS structures.
At present, the highest level of mask in China has five layers, namely SMMMS, and KN95 masks with higher protection grade have five layers, two of them are melt-blown cloth and three of them are non-woven cloth. It can filter more than 95% of fine particles.
Compared with other types of masks, KN95 masks are relatively expensive. Many people have questions: Can KN95 masks be reused? The answer is sure.
Some researchers have conducted relevant studies on the protective efficiency and wearing time of KN95 masks. The results showed that the filtration efficiency of KN95 mask remained above 95% for 2 days, and the respiratory resistance changed little. After 3 days, the filtration efficiency of KN95 mask decreased to 94.7%.
The utility time of KN95 masks varies depending on the environment. For example, in cases of direct contact with bacteria and viruses, KN95 masks typically last six to eight hours and no more.
If used for general protection, the KN95 mask should be discarded when it comes into contact with blood or droplets. If the KN95 mask is damaged, it should be thrown away. When respiratory resistance increases, it should be discarded.
If these situations do not occur, generally we can use two KN95 masks per week. If you have only one, it can be used for 5 working days.
1. Wash your hands before wearing a KN95 mask or avoid touching the inside of the mask during wearing to reduce the possibility of mask contamination.
2. Distinguish the inside, outside, top and bottom of the KN95 mask ; The printing face of KN95 mask faces outward; One end of the metal strip/sponge strip is at the top.
3. Do not squeeze the KN95 mask with your hands, including the KN95 mask, which isolates the virus on its surface. If you squeeze the KN95 mask with your hands, there is still a chance of infection.
4. Make sure the KN95 mask fits tightly to the face. The simple test: after putting on the KN95 mask, expire forcefully to prevent air from escaping through the edges of the KN95 mask.
